After watching this series, I have fallen in love with Brazil all over again.
Last week, I posted some videos from the Brasil, Brasil BBC Series. It is a fantastic series that will teach you a ton about Brazilian music, history and culture in ten minute segments. I really cannot stress enough how excellent the series is and how much every one of you should watch it. Start from the beginning, since it's in historic chronological order. Thanks to Chloe for pointing out that the guy who posted them on Youtube has a ton more, so here they are! Note the links to the different parts of each feature.
I would have to say that Virginia Rodrigues and all the Tropicalia artists are the most underrated artists in the world. I especially love Bahian music that has been influenced by the slave trade and Afro-Brazilians. Some of their songs are direct parallels to the Negro Spirituals of the United States.
Music is so beautiful...
