Someday, I want to live somewhere surrounded by fruit trees. It's weird how deliriously happy they make me. On Eli's birthday, we went to the military base social club, and I couldn't get over by how many exotic fruit trees there were in a quarter-mile radius:
There were coconuts...
that last fruit also looks like a guanabana....
one of my favorites!

The "starfruit" looks very much like a pitanga, a delicious berry typical of Brazil. It makes great caipirinha!

Mangosteen. I do not know the name in Brasil, but I bought them there this year. Perhaps they were imported.
The BEST fruit in the world.

Rachel,
The one you think is a kind of star fruit is a "Pitanga". It is very popular in Florida and when I walked my dog around Miami I used to pick and eat them along the way. It is a great fruit, filled with Vitamin C.

Pitangas are great, I miss my pitangueira. My parents always liked having fruit trees around, my favorite has always been the lemon (well, lime) tree - it never stops producing.
Another nice thing about pitanga is that you can make tea out of its leaves, it's not incredibly tasty (not awful either) but it's a very effective cold medicine.
