In this Brazilian TV show, the host did several tests with a blond woman, a gay man, and a black man to see who would experience the most prejudice at a mall in São Paulo. While not very scientific, the experiment was revealing and at the end, even scary. I think it would be interesting to do the same test in the United States, except with a Latina woman or a Middle Eastern man. It might also be more interesting in both cases to use all men or all women.
UPDATE: Original video link stopped working - here is a new one, below.

Very predictable and disapointing at the same time...

Heh, there's nothing original in Brazilian TV. This was done by Danilo Gentili's "Teste de Honestidade" in the first season of CQC.

Racial discrimination in Brazil??! IMPOSSIBLE
let us analyze the FACTS:
1. was there anyone dressed like the ku klux klan in the video? NO
2. were there any signs saying "blacks not allowed"? NO
3. was anyone speaking the language of racists: ENGLISH? NO
therefore there is no racism there. only if atleast 2 of the 3 above can be verified that it counts as racism. Nothing to see here folks move along. Brazil will be the most powerful superpower in the history of the world in just a few years i guarantee.

There is an experiment done by ABC "shopping while black" in NYC, something similiar to that. You can check it out on you tube.

Hi Rachel,
The video you linked to has been removed so it can't be viewed. Is there another link to watch it on? I wasn't sure what portuguese keywords to use to search for it. Thanks, this looks interesting, I'd like to see it. This reminds me of the video of a Black man going into a bank in Rio I think, and the prejudice against him. I think it was here on your blog that I saw it.

Jolly, can you please explain why English is "the language of racists?"
