I'm very excited to announce that I have been chosen as one of two writers who will write for the Foreign Policy Association's brand new Brazil blog! I was humbled, to say the least, when I found out the other blogger is actually a professor who specializes in Brazil and Latin America. Luckily, he focuses on climate change and the environment, which I tend to touch on marginally, so I think we will make a good team.
Back in the summer, I found out a friend of mine was writing their Cuba blog, and I noticed they didn't have one for Brazil. So I bombarded the blog editor with applications and samples, and recently, I was really happy to get a call from my friend, who will now be my blog boss, so to speak.
So without further ado: check out my first post on the Brazilian education here.

Parabéns! Você sempre mostrou uma visão alegre e realista sobre o Brasil e os brasileiros, não caindo nos estereótipos e simplificações usuais. E seu texto é muito gostoso. Sucesso em seu novo blog!

Sorry, but the link to your new blog seems to be broken...

Congratulations! Although I'm no expert in the subject, I've always appreciated your perspective and way of talking about Brazil. Like Max commented, the second link to your entry doesn't work :( From looking at the first link to the general Brazil blog, it doesn't look like your article has been posted yet...

Gringa, fabuloso isso!! At first I thought it was my Professor in College you are referring to but I see is someone else... He is actually teaching a class in Brazil this winter (January) and he also specializes in environment and is well-known... perhaps you will meet him at your new job. He teaches at CUNY.
Beijos.. e, mais uma vez, parabéns! I will be reading your insights from there as well. ;)

Thanks, all! The link should be working now. It was a little funky on the actual website too when I went over there, but if you go to the site and hit F5 it should show up. The link on here should be fixed, let me know if anyone has issues with it!

Hi Rachel,
Congratulations on your perceptive article. I liked it a lot and think you're a great fit for the blog.
However, and sorry to be picky about grammar, but in case you send this out as a sample of your work, I think you should change your second sentence. Use "as" instead of "like" and make "paints" agree with "overview." It just felt a little awkward on first reading.

Best wishes and Happy Holidays
